Visit with the cardiologist and a big decision

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Mom and Dad met with Dr. Cherry today and discussed the results of last Tuesday’s heart ultrasound. Dr. Cherry said that it showed severe aortic valve stenosis and recommended a valve replacement. This would entail at least six months of recovery time, but would give Dad an excellent chance for improved quality of life. He also recommended that Dad talk to his primary physician and his neurologist, then meet with him again in three weeks to discuss his choice. Rather than wait that long, Mom and Dad contacted them today, and they agreed with Dr. Cherry that the valve replacement would be a good idea for Dad.

Based on everything, Dad decided that he wants to go ahead with the valve replacement surgery, and the whole family is supporting his decision. Please help us cover him and Mom in prayer as this process goes forward.

Dad’s weblog is now officially back online. We’ll keep it updated on a regular basis with news of Dad’s health and treatment.

For your convenience, I’ve tried to make it a bit easier to get here. You can go to johnny.tonyc.com or jw.tonyc.com and either will get you to this page.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers for Dad and the whole family!
